Beginner eyebrow
training
Four practical days at our Devon academy, plus an assessment day once your case studies are in: classic hairstrokes and ombré powder brows, with models provided throughout.

The beginner eyebrow course is a complete grounding in machine permanent makeup for brows. You'll start with around 30 hours of online pre-study, then join us for four practical days learning our brow-mapping method, machine technique, hairstrokes, shading and combination brows, and ombré powder brows.
Day one grounds you in mapping, design and machine handling on paper and faux skin, and you build onto live models across the days that follow. With a maximum of two students per tutor you get real attention, real correction, and a trainer who works on paying clients every day. Business and marketing strategy is built in, because technique alone doesn't fill a diary.
Two students per tutor, multiple models, and a trainer beside you correcting as you work.
After your practical days you complete case study work in your own space, at home or wherever you plan to practise, then return for a final assessment day. You leave with a full professional kit and carry case, a manual, an ABT-accredited certificate, and lifetime support.
It's built for complete beginners, beauty professionals, lash and brow techs, and career changers: anyone serious about doing this properly. If you're not sure it's for you, come and observe on a free shadow day first.
How the course runs
Around 30 hours of theory before you arrive: skin, colour, contraindications, hygiene and consultation, so your practical days are spent with a machine in your hand, not in a lecture.
Brow mapping, machine technique, hairstrokes, shading and combination brows, and ombré powder brows, starting on paper and faux skin on day one and building up to live client work on real models across the days that follow.
You complete supervised case study work in your own space, at home or wherever you plan to practise, with feedback on every set as you build your portfolio and confidence.
Return to the academy for your final assessment and certification once your case studies are complete.
Training doesn't end on your last day. You get ongoing mentoring, feedback on your work, and access to our student community for as long as you need it.
The course in detail
Everything we are asked before someone books. Open any section for the full answer.
Come and watch first, on a free shadow day+
Before you commit to anything, you're welcome to come and observe a treatment with Gemma at the Newton Abbot studio. You watch a full procedure from consultation through to aftercare, see how the room runs, how clients are handled and what the work actually looks like up close. You can ask as many questions as you want, meet your trainer before you book, and get a feel for the environment you'd be working in. Most people find it answers the question they can't answer from a website: whether this is really the career they want. There's no charge and no obligation to book afterwards.
What the 30 hours of pre-study covers+
Access to the online learning platform opens as soon as you book, and you work through it in your own time before you arrive. It covers basic skin anatomy and how pigment behaves in different skin types, colour theory and pigment selection, contraindications and when to turn a client away, consultation and consent, salon hygiene, health and safety, blood-borne pathogens, anaesthetics, and needle theory. The point is that your four practical days are spent with a machine in your hand rather than sitting through lectures. You arrive already knowing why you're doing something, so the practical time is spent on how.
What each of the four practical days holds+
Day one starts with brow mapping and design on paper and on faux skin, then moves to machine handling: depth, pressure, stretch and speed. Day two builds classic hairstrokes, following natural growth patterns rather than a template. Day three covers ombré and powder brows, and combination work that blends the two. Day four is consolidation on live models with Gemma and Georgie beside you correcting in real time. Models are provided throughout, and with a maximum of two students per tutor you are never waiting your turn or watching from the back of a room.
Case studies, then your assessment day+
After your practical days you complete six hairstroke brows and six ombré powder brows on your own models. For each one you send us before, after, healed and topped-up photographs. We review every set and come back with specific feedback rather than a grade, and if something needs more work we say so and tell you what to change. When we're both happy with the standard, you return for a single assessment day where we shadow you performing a full treatment start to finish. Certification follows that.
Everything included in your kit+
You leave with a full professional toolkit and carry case, not a starter sample bag. That means your digital machine, a pigment set, cartridge needles in the gauges you've been trained on, mapping tools including callipers, thread and pencils, practice latex, PPE and barrier film, aftercare products to give your first clients, and your printed manual. It's specified so that when you finish your assessment you can take a booking the following week without buying anything else. Consumables are yours to keep and we'll tell you exactly where we reorder ours from, at trade, rather than leaving you to guess.
What you could realistically earn+
Brow artists across Devon commonly charge £250 to £350 for a full set, with colour boosts on top. To put that in context: two treatments a week at £300 would be about £2,600 a month, and five a week about £6,500. Those are worked examples of revenue before any costs, not earnings you should expect. What you actually take home depends on your prices, how busy you get, and what you spend on pigments, room hire, insurance and tax. What fills those slots is not technique alone, which is why business and marketing strategy is built into the course rather than sold separately: pricing, consultation scripts, photographing your work properly, and the social content that actually converts enquiries into bookings.
Is this course right for you?+
It suits complete beginners, beauty and aesthetics professionals adding a service, lash and brow technicians moving into machine work, and career changers coming from something unrelated entirely. What matters more than background is temperament: this is detailed, close-up work that rewards patience and a good eye. If you're artistic, methodical about hygiene and genuinely interested in the clients rather than just the result, you will do well. If you want to be your own boss, set your own hours and control what you earn, that's exactly what this qualification is for.

A few things worth knowing
Do I need any experience?+
None at all. This course is designed for complete beginners, as well as beauty professionals and career changers. Everything is taught from the ground up, starting with online theory.
How big are the classes?+
A maximum of two students per tutor, with only a handful of spaces per intake, so you get proper one-on-one attention and your trainer can correct you while you work rather than afterwards.
Is a kit included?+
Yes. You leave with a full professional toolkit and carry case: machine, pigments, needles, mapping tools, aftercare, PPE and practice latex, plus your manual. Everything you need to start working.
What could I earn?+
Brow artists commonly charge around £250–£350 per set, so even part-time work adds up. Any figures we give are worked examples of revenue before costs rather than earnings you should expect, and what you take home depends on your prices, how busy you get and your own overheads. The course includes business and marketing training to help you fill your diary.
When are the next dates?+
Three intakes are running: 8–11 February, 14–17 June and 27–30 September. Each is four practical days with a maximum of two students per tutor, so places go early. Get in touch to hold one.
Can I visit before I book?+
Absolutely. Come and observe a treatment with Gemma on a free shadow day, meet your trainer, get a feel for the work, and ask as many questions as you like before committing.
