We begin with a personalised consultation to discuss your lip goals, desired shade, and overall look. Together, we’ll select a color that complements your skin tone and enhances your natural features.

I’ll carefully outline your lips to ensure symmetry and precision. This allows us to create the perfect shape and define your lips beautifully before applying the pigment.

Flawless Lips That Last – What to Expect

Your permanent lips color will gradually settle after the treatment, revealing a natural, soft tint that enhances your lips beautifully. I use premium pigments designed to fade gradually, giving you the flexibility to adjust your color with future touch-ups if desired.

With the proper aftercare, your permanent makeup for lips can last up to 24 months. A touch-up every year or so ensures that your lips stay vibrant and defined, with minimal upkeep required.

Who Is Lip Blush Suitable For?

Lip blushing is suitable for most people who want to enhance the appearance of their lips without surgery or daily makeup.

Lip blush works beautifully for clients who want to add a soft tint to pale or uneven lips, correct asymmetry, define the lip border without harsh lines, or simply wake up with colour already in place. It is a popular choice for clients who have naturally thin or faded lips, or who find that lip liner never stays put.

A free consultation is always included before any treatment. During this appointment we discuss your goals, assess your skin, confirm suitability, and agree on the colour and shape. If you are on blood thinners, are pregnant, or have certain skin conditions, we will advise you on timing and any adjustments needed.

  • Pale, uneven, or asymmetric lips
  • Lips that lose colour towards the border
  • Anyone wanting low-maintenance daily beauty
  • Clients who dislike applying lip liner every day

Lip Blush vs Lip Filler: What's the Difference?

Two very different treatments — here is what you need to know before deciding.

Lip filler uses hyaluronic acid injections to add volume to the lips. It changes the physical shape and fullness of the lip. Lip blush, on the other hand, adds colour and definition — it improves how your lips look without altering their shape or adding volume. Both treatments can complement each other, but they address different concerns.

Lip blush is a tattoo-based treatment applied into the upper layers of skin. It fades gradually over 1–2 years, meaning you are not locked into a look permanently. Results look natural and are customisable — from barely-there tints to bolder washes of colour depending on your preference.

If you are looking for volume, lip filler may be the right choice. If you want colour, definition, and a polished look without makeup — lip blush delivers that. At Gemma Henderson PMU, we will help you work out which option suits your goals during your free consultation.

Lip Blush Healing: What to Expect Day by Day

The healing process is straightforward — here is what typically happens.

In the first 2–3 days your lips will appear darker and more vibrant than your final result — this is normal. They may feel slightly tender and will begin to peel as the outer skin heals. This peeling is part of the process and should not be picked at. Around days 4–7, the colour will fade significantly and may look patchy. This is temporary.

By weeks 4–6, the true healed colour settles in. This is when your perfecting session is scheduled to refine the result and fill any areas that healed unevenly. The perfecting session is included in your treatment — it is a normal and expected part of the process, not a corrective measure.

  • Days 1–3: Darker, more vibrant colour
  • Days 4–7: Peeling and significant fade
  • Weeks 2–4: Colour gradually returns
  • Weeks 4–6: Final healed result

Lip Blush FAQs

How long does lip blush last?

Lip blush typically lasts 1–2 years before a colour refresh is needed. Longevity depends on your skin type, lifestyle, and how well you follow aftercare advice. Sun exposure and certain skincare products can speed up fading. Annual top-ups help maintain a fresh result.

Does lip blush hurt?

We apply a numbing cream before and during the procedure to keep the experience comfortable. Most clients describe a mild tingling or pressure sensation. The lips are a more sensitive area than brows, but the majority of clients find the treatment very manageable.

What colours are available for lip blush?

A wide range of natural and bolder tones are available, from soft nudes and dusty roses to deeper berries. During your consultation we colour-match to your skin tone and discuss your preferred look — subtle everyday colour, or something more defined for special occasions. The goal is always a result that complements your natural colouring.

Can I still wear lipstick over lip blush?

Yes — once your lips have fully healed (around 6 weeks), you can wear lipstick or gloss as normal. Many clients find they no longer need to, but the permanent colour works as a perfect base for any additional makeup you choose to apply.
